The Art of Conversation
Venue: Hampstead, London
Date: Saturday March 3 10am -5.30pm
This is an ideal course for anyone who needs to brush up their networking skills in order to make more business contacts or more friends. It could also be a great way to improve your communication with a specific person in your work, social or personal life.
The course is a shorter version of the course we run in Spain in the Reflect and Recharge programme.
There will be a maximum of 8 people in the group to ensure that each person can receive individual attention.
Programme:
Morning workshop – 10-12.30
In this session, you will:
- learn how the confident conversationalist glides along, stage by stage, from small talk through to more personal subjects or serious business talk
- learn how to control your nerves and fear so you look and sound competent, interesting and enthusiastic
- practise a particular skill that may benefit from a boost. This could be, for example, starting conversations from cold, breaking into conversation groups, or extracting yourself confidently and politely from conversations
- have some honest feedback on your own conversational style if you would like to know how you are coming across to others
Lunch
We will lunch (and chat, of course!) in one of Hampstead’s many great café’s.
Afternoon
Each participant will have a 30 minute individual session with Gael or Annette, her guest consultant for this course. You could use this to gain advise on how to manage a specific ‘difficult’ conversation that you want to initiate either at work or in your personal life.
During your ‘free time’ you will also have a real-life conversation assignment to complete which will have been set at the end of the morning workshop. You can do this while having some relaxing time browsing the shops or walking on Hampstead’s beautiful heath.
4.30 – 5.30 the whole group will re-convene to take a drink together in a local pub and prepare their action plans to ensure that the learning from the day continues to be put into practise.
